Buying Frenzy
Well, it’s been a while… Not having internet access at home yet - and running aroud shopping for stuff to put in the place - has prevented me for posting updates here. Tonight I am staying after-hours in my cubicle to fix this.
So… I moved in on Saturday. Rushed to get a bed delivered that same day - a California King, obviously. Stopped at WalMart and got odds and ends:
- one luxury comforter - so pretty my eyes hurt
- a gas-top water boiler - does not seem to whistle properly
- one cooking pan with matching cover
- cutting board and cooking knives
- regular knives, forks, spoons
- plates, mugs, bowls
- tooth paste, shavers, etc…
Then it was IKEA time:
- one coffee table / TV stand
- two plastic folding chairs
- a night stand and a lamp
- closet organizers
- towels and a bathroom floormat
Also did groceries at SafeWay. Stuff there is ridiculously expensive, even though I am now a “Club Member”. Drove all around looking for a couch. Visited the Great America Mall and firmly decided I would never go again. Only redeeming value there was Home Depot, where I purchased a hammer and two screw drivers. Useful for assembling the swedish furniture.
On Monday I got a nifty flat-screen HDTV at Fry’s. But I have no hookup yet so it will only show snow until next Tuesday. Also got a phone/answering machine - same thing, no service yet.
Finally, yesterday, I found a sofa-bed and added a huge ottoman - actually a bench. They should both be delivered this week-end, so upcoming guests will have a place to sleep.
In conclusion: my credit-card is pretty much maxed out now!
