Yahoo! Messenger! 9! beta! released!
Yesterday evening, Yahoo! released a public beta of Messenger version 9. This version of the IM client includes some welcome cosmetic updates along with many less visible back-end changes.
On the Voice front, calls can now be forwarded to any regular phone line. Also the voicemail paradigm is improved, with messages being sent to the user’s email address so they are accessible without using the desktop client. To accommodate this, the call history window [pictured here] has been redesigned by yours truly. Along with every other component of Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 Beta, it has been localized for 25 distinct international markets, including six new ones for this release: Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, India (Hindi), and Vietnam.
Also of note, a tasty photo-sharing tool which integrates with Flickr, courtesy of my esteemed colleague Ryan Doherty.
Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 Beta includes plenty of other features which you can discover by perusing various posts around the web or by downloading the client for yourself (requires Windows 2000 or later).
