For those wondering, I did pay a quick visit to a professional later on that day.

Me voilà rentré d’Europe, après 10 jours de réjuvenation à l’occasion de mon anniversaire. Un post détaillant les événements précis de la fête de la musique – et ses conséquences capillaire – sera publié dès que j’en obtiens des photos.

En attendant, quelques statistiques:

• 18744 km d’avion, 1242 km en train
• quelques neurones, un peu d’audition et beaucoup de cheveux perdus
• 8 réseaux WiFi pieusement exploités via iPhone
• une demi-douzaine de baguette fraîches consommées
• 5 paquets de cigarettes à 5€ pièce en moyenne
• 4 fromages, 5 vins, 1 champagne
• 3 pains au chocolat
• 2 mouvements sociaux
• 1 acte notarié
• trop de voitures allemandes observées
• plein de sirènes, de militaires, et de policiers
• et l’interdiction de fumer dans le lieux publics, étrangement respectée

And now for the obvious post: Anne and I are effectively married!

This has taken place on April 12th in Las Vegas. Yes, Elvis was there. All that could make it were welcome, but we both knew it was going to be a small committee and are fine with that since everyone is able to see the event ad-nauseam archived on the interweb.

We have been back in California for a week now, and are only now starting to recover from our emotions. Luxurious hotel rooms with view on the strip have been slept in, Jewelry has been purchased and is now being sized, surprise parties have been thrown, champagne as been drunk(!), candid photos/videos from the gatherings in both the US and France have been exchanged, cards and gifts have accumulated… It has been a crazy ride, and we must now push forward in the administrative matters which triggered all these precipitations in the first place!

Special thanks to Pete and Sylvia for being there for us at this special time. Thanks to my mom for letting us do this our way and hosting the live video watching party. Thanks to Arnaud and Olivier for their pleasant last-minute arrival. Thanks to Ryan for the most relevant Hallmark card. Thanks to all at Yahoo! for being so flexible even in these turbulent times. And thanks to Elvis for making this such a great event!

In other news, I bought a electro-acoustic guitar this week-end. She’s an Ovation and her name is Celebrity. I need to re-learn a couple more chords before I try Christophe’s fancy Guitar Rig software.

Mais il est maintenant temps de revenir à la réalité, en mon absence le président de Yahoo! a démissionné !

J’ai beau leur dire que je viens d’arriver, que j’ai pas encore vraiment raison de vouloir quitter Yahoo!, ils insistent. A force, je finis toujours par leur dire que je connais plein de monde en France, tous super doués, et que je leur transmettrai avec joie les offres d’emploi si les entreprises sont d’accord pour sponsoriser les visas. Et ils sont toujours enthousiasmés par la french touch.

Donc… Tu connais HTML, CSS, Javascript? Tu saurais faire une calculette en PHP? Tu sais uploader un fichier via ftp en ligne de commande? Tu sais faire des jolis dégradés et des coins arrondis avec Photoshop? Si tu peux répondre yes à au moins deux de ces questions, que tu serais tenté(e) par une luxuriante vie en Californie — avec voiture décapotable, stock options, et soirées pizza-debug à gogo — et qu’en plus tu connais mon mail, fais moi signe, camarade.

In other news, Benjamin arrived yesterday… We’ve been playing Gears of War… also he and Anne went shopping and took a swim in the Jacuzzi. Some people have all the fun.
