Car RAMmed

A Dodge RAM, a big truck, ran into my car at a red light on the way home from work today. I am apparently unharmed but Clicky is all hurt – the trunk is bent, and the driver seat doesnt sit straight anymore. It’s really not drivable so I guess I’ll have to ride the VTA light rail until I get it replaced and/or fixed.

In other news, Benjamin arrived yesterday… We’ve been playing Gears of War… also he and Anne went shopping and took a swim in the Jacuzzi. Some people have all the fun.

Garmin StreetPilot c340

c340.jpgBought it from Amazon.com on Tuesday, received it yesterday: that’s FAST shipping! Drove around with it today, it is pretty awesome. Finally found a gas station between home and work :-D

The StreetPilot c340 provides in-car navigation that is simple for anyone to use directly out of the box. After selecting a destination from the user-friendly touch screen interface, Garmin’s text-to-speech feature tells users the name of the street, when to turn, and in what direction. If you miss your turn, the c340 automatically calculates a new route to the destination.

Road Trip: Finish

After 4 days and 1868 miles, I have arrived in Sunnyvale, California!

This morning I decided to take the scenic road, and drove west towards route 101 instead of north on yet another interstate: add 253 miles, an ocean-viewing stop in Santa Cruz, and a traffic jam on US 1 to the log.

The hotel is very nice and feels quite safe. I can see my car in the parking from the room’s balcony. Already got a little swim in the pool! Program for later today: making sure I know how to get to the Yahoo! campus tomorrow and finding the closest grocery store.

Road Trip: Day 3

567 miles to Lost Hills, California. 1615 miles from start, less than 210 remaining until arrival in Sunnyvale.

Today’s motto: minimal stops. Did a little convertibleness in the desert. Yelled “Yahoo!” upon crossing the state border. Agricultural inspector asked if I had any fruits or vegetables, I replied that I considered beef jerky to qualify. Got lost at the end around Bakersfield, but eventually found my way to I-5 and the aptly named Lost Hills – in fact just a truck stop.

Clicky’s noises have moved from seat-belt to driver-side door, then to tires, trunk, and all over the place. Maybe because roads in California are not exactly in a good shape… and people speed anyways! Plus exhaustion: must get some sleep.
