Chivalry: Medieval Warfare
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is a hack-and-slay multiplayer-focused combat simulator game by Torn Banner Studios and Activision. There are several modes in which you can complete various medieval combat objectives playing different unit classes. You can download Chivalry: Medieval Warfare for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and Linux.
Developers have improved Chivalry: Medieval Warfare game visuals significantly since their Age of Chivalry Half-Life 2 modification. The current version of the title is driven by Unreal Engine 3 instead of Source, so it looks much prettier now. It has bugs on the physical level. Players may fall and jump through textures sometimes, but it doesn’t affect the gameplay. The landscapes look smooth and vibrant enough.
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare gameplay is perfectly balanced. It’s very similar to multiplayer shooters like Counter-Strike, and Team Fortress, but you have to come close to enemies to kill them. You can play an archer, man-at-arms, vanguard, and knight. Archers can shoot bows and javelins, or protect themselves with short swords. Men-at-arms are mid-armored soldiers, who carry a long one-handed sword, and a tall shield. It’s rather difficult to break their defense, but easy to run away. Vanguards can’t use shields, but they’re speedy and attack with long weapons like polearms. Knights are the most protected, strong, and slow opponents. You can defeat them right after they attack you because their reloading speed is low. There are 7 classic multiplayer modes, such as Duel, Free for All, Team Deathmatch, Last Team Standing, King of the Hill, Team Objective, and Capture the Flag. We tested each mode for this Chivalry: Medieval Warfare review, and made sure that they’re all well-balanced.
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare system requirements allow you to play with any compatible gamepad or keyboard and mouse. Both inputs provide the same quality of controls. We tried to connect keyboard and mouse to consoles, and, surprisingly, this method worked out well on Xbox One.
Replay Value: 4.5
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare full game includes 7 modes and allows you to master 4 different types of battle units. There’s a huge field for testing strategies and practice teamwork. It only lacks a Battle Royale mode that’s considered a must-have for modern competitive multiplayer games.
The Bottom Line
This game is highly recommended to all fans of medieval setting and those who seek an unusual multiplayer title. It’s incredibly fun to grab a sword and rush towards enemies shouting epically. Chivalry: Medieval Warfare includes cross-platform match-making, so you can play with friends, no matter what gaming platform they have.
